Map The Mahea Uchiyama Center for International Dance (MUCID) opened in October 1993 to provide an environment where students of all ages and abilities can take part in a holistic multicultural dance experience through traditional training, lecture, demonstrations, performance opportunities and workshops with master teachers. The Center approaches dance as a manifestation of the human spirit, rather than merely a collection of movements. Students are encouraged to explore and celebrate their cultural differences and common humanity.

MUCID provides a way to honor the diverse population of the Bay Area. We welcome new members and encourage your support.

The Center offers a beautiful, airy space in West Berkeley which features 1,750 square feet, the latest wood sprung floor and mirrors. There's plenty of free parking, excellent light and a quiet and inspiring atmosphere. Safe and secure for evening classes and performances with a seating capacity of ninety. We are conveiently located with easy freeway access.
